Valley of the Sun Victory Riders is hosting a group ride on June 17, 2023 to Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, AZ.
One of the group's favorites, we're calling this the "Fire & Ice Ride." We'll be leaving the extreme, triple-digit temperatures of Phoenix (FIRE) and heading to the cool mountain air of Mount Lemmon (ICE). With a summit elevation of 9,159 feet, Mount Lemmon is the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains. It is located in the Coronado National Forest north of Tucson.
No fan of the hot temps, our ride captain would like to get an early start. Here's the game plan:
- West & Northsiders: Meet up at Denny's located at 2717 W Bell Rd (aka the “Orphanage”) for 6 a.m. departure.
- East & Southsiders: Meet the group at the Apache Junction Chevron, Idaho Rd. & US 60 at 7 a.m.
- Tucsonans: Meet at Speedway Gas, 12885 N Oracle Rd., Oracle Jct. around 8:30 a.m.
- Enjoy brunch at Iron Door, Mt. Lemmon Ski Resort about 10:30 a.m.
The return trip basically will be the same, taking time to enjoy the “FIRE” inferno we will encounter coming back to the Phoenix Metro area.
