Anyone planning on traveling through Glacier National Park after the National Meet, please be aware that beginning August 4th they are chip sealing many of the roads, parking lots, and drives in the park. In the last seven days we had a nice surge in registration. The number of registered attendees (who are staying at the Red Lion) jumped from 60% to 78%. To those that got registered - THANK YOU :appl :appl In order to avoid any unpleasant surprises I want to make those who are still not registered aware of four things: We are ordering t-shirts on July 1st. I will make a calculated guess as to the sizes, styles and amounts for those who are still not registered, but you might not get what you want. This is the IMPORTANT - we are getting close to capacity in the ballroom for the Saturday night banquet. We also have a fixed number of "gifts" coming from Victory Corporate for our attendees. Because of this, we will be forced to cut off registration once we reach 425 attendees. Right now, if everyone who has a room at the hotel shows up, we are at 412. That's only 13 people. Keep in mind, this is people I know about. The unknown factor is people who are staying elsewhere and are still not registered. I would really hate for anyone to make the trip to Lewiston, only to be turned away at the registration desk. So fair warning: if you plan to register at the door, you are taking your chances. The cutoff for early registration is July 18th. After that the registration fee increases to $75. Online registration will close on July 26th. Anyone registering after July 26th will have to register at the door. I am sure there will be some last minute cancellations at the hotel, but in my experience the number of cancellations is usually around 5% and is more than offset by the number of walk-in's - which is usually around 10-12%. The takeaway here: avoid disappointment, please register ASAP

Some clarification might make this more palatable for those having an issue. The purpose for requiring registration was to motivate people to get their registration fees paid. This is always a challenge for event planners. Typically people make their hotel reservations right away, and then wait until the last minute to pay their registration fees, often at the door. Because hotel reservations can be cancelled the day before, it leaves the planners up in the air. As of this morning 40% of those with reservations are still not registered. Are they coming or not? How many t-shirts should we order? In what sizes? We don't know. Along comes someone who wants to be a contribution - to a very worthy cause - but isn't coming to the event. Since I know he's not coming, I know not to order a t-shirt for him. No mystery. He's not leaving me hanging up in the air. So - to my mind at least - my purpose for requiring registration did not apply to him. Maybe I made the wrong call, but I seriously did not expect any blow-back. Since his post was 5 days before the drawing, it would have been helpful if those who object had spoken up before it was all over. I might have made a different decision.

Dylan is currently receiving treatment for Ewing's Sarcoma which is a highly aggressive bone cancer. However, that doesn't slow him down from wanting to go on a fly fishing trip in Alaska with his parents and younger brother. Dylan is currently seeking treatment and has undergone chemotherapy and has had surgery within the past 6 months on both of his legs. Dylan just completed his surgery and will have his legs in braces for a few months. He is looking forward to the end of his treatments by celebrating and having his wish come true. Here is Dylan with his first bass catch! Here is Dylan shooting a bow. This is what you will find Dylan doing when he is not busy fishing. Although Dylan has only been fishing for a couple years, it has quickly become his favorite thing to do and loves to fish with his family.
