  2. I have been watching the News and weather every couple of days. Today the town of Grafton across the river from Collinsville is flooded. I haven't heard any thing about the roads in and out of Collinsville, so we will address any issues when they arise. Looking forward to the V2V and meeting more VMC members.
  3. Hello fellow VIC riders, This is what I have in mind for our leg 6 ride. We will leave the hotel around 8:30 AM and ride into St Louis to the Gateway Arch for a photo and give our out of state guest an opportunity to view the amazing structure. We will not have time for anybody to tour the inside of the Arch unless it can be accomplished with in 1/2 hour. Then we will make our way toward Hwy 100 and town of Washington, MO. From Washington we will go west to Herman, MO. and cross the Missouri river and ride west on Hwy 94. At Jefferson City we will catch Hwy 50. We will stop for lunch in Centertown, MO. then on through Sedalia for 25 miles to MO Hwy 13 North crossing the Missouri River again at Lexington, staying on Hwy 13 to Richmond, then catching Hwy 10 to Excelsior Spring and then Hwy 92 for about 30 miles to Platte City, MO. where we stop for the night at Quality Inn & Suites. This plan is subject to change if there is road closings due to flooding or construction.
  4. It will be great to meet you and all of the other riders that will be on Leg 6. I haven't locked down the chosen route for Leg 6, but will try to make the chosen rode's interesting. As of now the later part of leg 6 will be on the north side of I-70. I will post further detailed information when I make final decision on our route, and location for lunch break.
  5. Hello, I am your Leg 7 Ride Captain, Lowell. We will be riding Hwy 24 to Wamego, KS where we will tale a short break at the park to view the Victory Hwy Memorial. I haven't decided yet if we will take a scenic detour down the, Stone Fence Hwy, or travel roads on the north side of I-70. When the weather turns nice I will pre-ride the route and check out the roads, and will post further information on our plans. Hope to have a few riders, and have fun riding this year.
  6. Tomnkc. thanks for the interest in V2V, at this time this is what I know. The leg 5 Captain has contacted me and , he is working on the hotels for his legs. Looking at a different hotel in the same vicinity as last year. When the final decision is made he will let Gene know so it can be posted. Also as soon as I know I will let you and Diane know and I will make a posting of my intended route.
  7. That is a great pic that Llama posted kind of wonder if building is still there in Wendover. THANKS Llama
  8. The V2V is a great experience, You get to see a lot of this wonderful country of ours. The legs going across Kansas and Eastern Colorado do not have the curvy roads like the mountains but there are great views of wide open plains and the terrain changes from agriculture, to prairie, to hi plains, and then to the foot hills leading to the mountains. I recommend that every body try a few legs of the V2V. Come see this country, meet some new friends, get some good riding in, and make some memories. Dirty Twin's overview of the expenses is a reasonable and safe plan for your budget. Hope you join us on the 2019 V2V.
  9. OK, fellow V2V riders, Leg 7 got off to a great start as we departed from Wilson Lake near Wilson KS. at about 7:10 AM. The riders decided that an early start to beat the heat of the day was appropriate. There were 6 riders plus my self. We road south to catch KS Hwy 140 then turned east toward Salina KS. where we caught Old Hwy 40. We stayed on Old Hwy 40 till it ran into I-70 at Junction City then we jumped on I-70 for about two miles where we took a deviation south for a little way in order to catch a scenic ride on KS. Hwy 99 known as " The Stone Fence Hwy". Trekking north about 20 miles and crossing I-70 we ended up in Wamego KS. where we viewed one of the Victory Highway Monuments. After a brief stop for a picture or two we went back to the Main St. and down a block for lunch at a quaint restaurant named "The Friendly Cooker". Back on the road we took Hwy 24 east to Topeka KS. where we stopped at Gage Park to view a second Victory Highway Monument. It was getting hot by now so back on the road and east on Hwy 24 toward Kansas City where the riders that were from Kansas City, spilt off and headed home to clean up before the evenings events. Rick McDonald (Mack), Vivian H.(Push-start) & myself, arrived at the hotel around 2:30 PM. After cooling down and freshening up we met the other leg 7 riders, and a few of the "Great Planes Victory Riders" club members, at a restaurant across the street for dinner, passing of the Baton, and cake in honor of our Veterans. It was defiantly a good day and great ride on Leg 7 of the V2V.
  10. Here is an update on Leg 7. Last Monday 6/4/18 I had a chance to ride most all of the roads on leg 7 and they are in good shape and was no serious construction at this time. The café for the lunch stop may change due to concerns of numbers of riders may overload the café staff. Please note : The café only accepts CASH ONLY, so make sure that you have lunch money. We will see you all in a few weeks. LG Johnson
