  1. I agree that Policy and Procedure should be reviewed annually and amended as needed. However, I don't think it should be that committee's sole discretion as to what changes are made. IMHO I think it would be good that after the close of each year ALL COMMITTEES should submit reports to the BoD reflecting what happened or did not happen during the previous year, what that committee's opinion on these things is, and what steps that committee recommends take place in the coming year. I could be mistaken being new to the BoD and not knowing my way around very much just yet but it appears to me that many committees do not submit annual reports, thus perpetuating problems and in some instances, perhaps, creating new ones. Committee Chairs should be held accountable for this. Just because we are all volunteers does not give us leeway to sluff off our responsibilities regarding reporting etc. Without knowing the current status of things, such as this recent complaint regarding the timing of the National, how are we supposed to make any changes? So - I would suggest that ALL COMMITTEE CHAIRS take a few minutes/hours to sit down at your desk/computer and look at what you've dealt with in the past year. Then, make your report to the BoD for the previous year so we can move forward realistically and make the changes that are needed to keep this club viable and active.

  2. Well, Arnold (xcbubba) and I made it back from Charleston, South Carolina yesterday afternoon, somewhat tired and feeling our age but nevertheless it was a grand time. Vohn and his folks put on a good rally and we got to see some of our low country roads, even though the weather was waaaaay too hot for this northeastern girl! Job well done everyone down there in the south! Here are some of my pics for those who didn't make it and those who did. Enjoy and see ya'll down the road!

WELL I WAS GOING TO POST PICS BUT IT'S JUST TOO DAMN ARDUOUS! GO TO MY FACEBOOK PAGE (Candi Lefebvre Christiansen) and you can see lots of em!

  3. I JUST WANT TO GIVE A BIG SHOUT OUT TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART IN THIS YEAR'S V2V. YOU ALL MADE IT HAPPEN PEOPLE! AND A HUGE HUGE HUGE THANKS TO VOHN BUSBY FOR ALL THE WORK HE HAS PUT INTO THIS EVENT, BOTH LAST YEAR TO SAVE IT AND THIS YEAR TO CONTINUE IT. ANOTHER SHOUT OUT TO THOSE WHO STEPPED UP TO TAKE THE BATON WHEN NO ONE ELSE WAS AVAILABLE. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT WHAT GOES DOWN WEST OF THE OHIO RIVER BUT I DO KNOW THAT WITHOUT THE EFFORTS OF GENE HUNT THE BATON WOULDN'T HAVE MADE IT THAT FAR, AND DONNA DOVEL, YOU ROCK GIRL! THE RUN CAN BE A PAIN IN THE ASS, THE TIMING CAN BE HARD TO MANAGE AND YES THE WEATHER CAN BE HORRENDOUS, BUT WHEN IT COMES RIGHT DOWN TO IT, THIS IS HOW WE PAY TRIBUTE AND HONOR THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US AS WELL AS TAKE PART IN SOMETHING MEMORABLE. WELL DONE FOLKS! WELL DONE! :beer :tu :yho

  4. CONTRARY TO A RUMOUR THAT VOHN HEARD, ARNOLD AND I STILL RESIDE AT 756 BRITTON STREET, CHICOPEE, MA. THE KICKOFF FOR THIS YEAR'S V2V IS AT OUR HOUSE ON TUESDAY, JUNE 20. ARNOLD HAS NOT YET DECIDED WHERE WE WILL HEAD OUT FROM ON THE 21ST BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE IS GOING TO BE OVERNIGHTING HERE IN TOWN. IF NOT, THEN WE WILL LEAVE FROM HERE AT 8 AM. ANY QUESTIONS? PLEASE PM EITHER ARNOLD (XCBUBBA) OR ME! THANKS!

  5. Hey there kiddies! Well, the first leg of this year's V2V was a grand success! We had an excellent little gathering at our house in Chicopee the night before and then bright and early on the first full day of summer, June 21, at 8 am (ish) we headed out - started with four bikes and six riders - picked up three more folks at Barkhamstead Reservoir in CT, then headed toward Stroudsburg, PA. What an excellent day! There were threats of rain for around the time we planned to arrive at the Budget Inn there, but although we could see the whole band of nasty looking clouds, we only got dripped on a couple of times - and our ride back today was absolutely beautiful! We had lunch on the way down and back at two excellent spots and a really good dinner last night. And we didn't get wet! Woohoo! I hope the rest of the legs go as smoothly and have as great weather as we did. Since this is the last year Arnold and I will be able to host and be either the kickoff or the end spot (selling the house) it was a really great way to say see ya down the road!

PS: I've been trying to post some pics but am having issues with the site accepting the smallest I can make them, so I may not be able to. Meanwhile, if you use Facebook - check out the Long River Riders page and there will be pics there!

  6. Okay, I have looked all over here and probably looked right at it and didn't see it - BUT I can't find any concise information about the meet other than all of this previous back and forth over when and where it was announced and the official logo on the home page. WHERE IS THE INFORMATION ABOUT CONTACTING EMBASSY SUITES TO MAKE RESERVATIONS AND WHAT CODE DO WE NEED TO USE TO GET OUR REDUCED RATE? (What is it anyway?) Thank yeeeeewww! :jstr

  7. Well, we've been hosting either the kickoff or the finish for a few years now and I don't think there've been any complaints. Thinking on whether or not the site should be moved to Boston or another major city, I think it makes for more complications relative to lodging, etc. plus if it ENDS in Boston on July 4 it would be a real real real clusterf_ck because Boston is insane with people on the 4th. I'm not sure about Atlantic City, but I think it might be the same thing - plus, is there even a chapter in that area? Arnold and I have no problem continuing if need be. I just think wherever is chosen should be away from major city activity.

  8. Hi everyone!

I sure hope the weather cooperates with us this year so we can have a kickin' finish party for the V2V. As we have done in the past, I am staying behind to get everything in order for when Arnold (XCBubba) and whomever is riding in with him arrive. We will have food, drinks and a pool ready and waiting. If anyone is riding the last leg with a spouse/significant other who wants to come here and be on hand to greet you and party, please PM me with their email and I'll get in touch. Thanks! Candi Christiansen

  9. I have to say that we host either the kick-off or the finish for the V2V and have for some years. it is a pleasure to do so but I have always thought that ending the ride on the 3rd of July rather than the 4th might be a better choice. That way folks could get home for the Independence Day celebration with family and friends and have a day to relax.

  10. The East Coast Connection (aka Long River Riders) completed our task of dumping the west coast sand onto the pristine (?) beach at Newport, Rhode Island today.  A jar has been filled with East Coast sand and is ready to take part in this year's V2V and comingle with it's brother sand on the West Coast.   :usa

  11. Um, Donna - my darling hubby didn't proof read his post - our chapter is actually the Long River RIDERS (not eiders - makes us sound like a bunch of quilts doesn't it? LOL)

We had such a good time at our kickoff party that the first part of Leg 1 in rain wasn't too bad (although it wasn't good either but we're getting used to it! LOL) Good job by Sportsman Matt in making all the transitions. And the icing on the cake for us was getting to hang out with Chesapeake George last night! Stay tuned - the sand, the baton, and the banner are on their way!
