1. in the past we have been rolling in the 8:30 to 9:00 ish time frame, it's a fairly long day, and usually stop for lunch in Vernal Utah, if I was not staying at the hotel, my plan would be to get to the Zermatt by 8:00am, worst case would be I would have time to have a coffee. Mike posted his phone number at the beginning of this thread, you could always call him the evening before we leave and see what his plan is.

VITO 2021

OK lads n lasses, VITO week is finally here, mask restrictions have been lifted in Colorado, sure it's still snowing,,, but only at night, and as I mature, (nope, no one's is going to believe that!), I have made the decision, it's pulling weeds OR shoveling snow, not both😊. I am fully inoculated, still have enough cash for some $4 gas and $8 beers,,,, look out Eureka Springs here I come!!!😊
3. Woop woop! Already can't wait to see see everyone at Zermatt, ride to Craig will be epic, like the last 6 or 7 have been πŸ˜„
4. wait just a dog gone minute!!!!! Naahh, your probably right βœ… πŸ˜€πŸ€ͺ
5. Wazzup buttercup? I think either route is good, St Francis is always a great stop, no matter which way you go I am fine with it. If there is room at Lake Wilson for 1 tree hugging hippie, mark me down, (pretty sure you could get at least 3 in the shower), water is not a renewable commodity, the more we save now..... As you know I live to chuck dirty wrenches into clean machinery! Can't help it, it's just what I am good at!,,,but I believe the Elephant is closed on a Sunday, which is the day we are leaving the world center of feed lots, (Ft Morgan), and heading Mrs Simpsons place!!

7. No problem, got my hotels booked between Utah and Wilson Kansas, really looking forward to getting out of the house πŸ™‚ going to make getting both my shots worth it!πŸ˜ƒ
8. Viv, Congrats on being the driving force for the 2021 V2V, as I am challenged in most things, with maybe the exception of consuming of adult beverages, is there a "sign up/ registration" for this years event?
9. The cost on hotels goes UP every year, and availability gets tougher every year, where possible I have tried to use Comfort Inn, HOWEVER, in the great Rocky Mountain Region (basically Denver to Ely Nevada for our purposes), it is VERY PRIME SEASON (their regular rates are about 70% higher that there "normal" rates!!!), and Comfort Inn has been less than willing to give the V2V group a "killer deal" on rates when they are typically sold out anyway. OK, so what this means to you is, if you are planning on ridding any of the legs from Denver-West, (and you absolutely should!) budget around $150 a night for your room, if you can talk a buddy into coming along with you, (and you should bring at least 1) that breaks down to about $75 a night per bed, (we can usually get double queen rooms if we know in advance). Most of the hotels we try to "block" offer some form of a breakfast, either included in the cost of your room, or for about $15 including tip. You will burn thru about 1 and a half tanks per day of gas, currently we are in the $3.65 range for gas in "the mountain towns". I am sure it will be closer to $4.35/ $4.65 per gallon by next summer, budget $35 a day for fuel and you will have enough to maybe even have a bottle or 2 of water or Gatorade, you will need that, because it's usually pretty warm, (like in mid 90's or higher), lots of water really helps stop altitude sickness, so plan on at least double what you would normally consume, and don't worry, we are old too, "P" stops are usually not an issue!, 1 tip is, every day, buy a bottle of water and your favorite flavored Gatorade/Powerade, cut it 50/50 with water, and you will be thankful for the electrolytes and the water, (and for having 2 x's the fluids available). An oil and filter change before you leave the house, tires that will "easily" go "twice as far" as "you think you are going to ride", (don't leave the house on tires that you can "get one more ride out of"!), 1) you can't, 2) you won't be near a dealership when the guy riding behind you starts telling you what kewel colored chords your tires have, 3)you are going to spend a chunk of fun tokens renting a truck and trailer and buying Walmart tie downs, to get your bike to the nearest dealer, who "thinks he may have a tire that fits, (he doesn't), but his mechanic can't get to it for "a while", don't be THAT guy!, flats happen, mechanical's happen, bald tires should never happen! Although it never rains on the V2V, bring decent rain gear, it has been known to "sprinkle" once in a while, (isn't that right Gene?) another reason to have decent tires, mountain roads are no fun on bowling balls, and really miserable on worn out bowling balls in the rain/fog. Dinner each evening is typically around $20, adult beverages, the same, (your mileage may vary!). you will not regret riding a few legs of the V2V, great company, top class experience, and while I can't vouch for riding across Kansas and Eastern Colorado, the next 3 days of the V2V in 2019 are a motorcyclists dream!. Finally, don't forget, you are riding away from home, as much as you don't want to, ya gotta home sooner or later, so a few extra hotels, meals, gas and miles, most of all JUST DO IT! I think if you plan $225 a day after you leave the house until you get back home, you may have enough to buy your leg captains a refreshing beverage, and, should arrive home with a little seed money for 2020, and what will be probably a few of the best days riding you have ever had!, a ton of new friends, who you will want to ride with again.
10. Way 2 Go Max! bet the room would have been cheaper than your bar bill is going to be!! :-{o) Cheers!!!!
11. Rode out of Castle Rock with Paul for the first hour this morning, before breaking off in Kiowa to head home. It is a hot one on the plains of Colorado today, was about 85 degs at 8.30 am, when I headed toward the house! Ohh how those guys are going to be wishing for the high mountain passes of the last few days,, πŸ™‚ and will be windy and storms when they get to Wilson Kansas. Paul decided to get a "scoot out" early this morning to try to beat the heat and the storms, Rick and Cleta were waiting for the Denver traffic to "thin out", (which I don't think ever happens!), then were heading north toward South Dakota. Want to thank all the participants of legs 4 and 5, they were reasonably well behaved πŸ™‚ and obeyed every speed limit sign, (hey, it's my story and I am sticking to it!!), played well with each other, and the great unwashed, a large group of great representatives of the Victory Motorcycle Club, well done guys, it was a great pleasure to be your leg captain for the last few days, you really are a terrific family, i am missing you already. Cheers, Graham
12. Good Morning everyone, Just an FYI regarding your room reservation for the evening of June 24th in Midway Utah. If you HAVE NOT USED the following link to book your room at the Zermatt Resort: : https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/trademark/midway-utah/zermatt-utah-resort-and-spa/rooms-rates?checkin_date=6/24/2018&checkout_date=6/25/2018&group_code=10K7IU YOU DO NOT HAVE A ROOM RESERVED!, for Sunday evening June 24th at the special V2V rate.
13. Follow up to billing for the overnight stay June 24th 2018.
RE: The Resort Fee Fiasco
when you follow the link: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/trademark/midway-utah/zermatt-utah-resort-and-spa/rooms-rates?checkin_date=6/24/2018&checkout_date=6/25/2018&group_code=10K7IU to "reserve" your room, your receipt will show a charge of $162.60, HOWEVER, when you check in at the hotel on June 24th, your credit card will only be charged $145.67. because, as we are all well aware, in this simple world, nothing is ever simple!, the software that the hotel uses to "block" your room does not have the ability to "not" charge for the resort fee, therefore the front desk staff will have to override it when you check in.....SIMPLE! :-{o)
14. Bearcat, The resort fee was waived for our group, you should not have to pay that, the way I ran the math the room rate should be $129.00 plus Utah Lodging tax (12.92%) $145.66 total. I contacted the hotel, I will let you know if it is anything different. annaway weee go! Grahambo
15. Good morning everyone, I finally have the link so that you can book your room for Sunday June 24th 2018. Every room will need to be reserved on a credit card, if you both call, you will BOTH GET A ROOM! In order to get the V2V rate you need to call the reservation link shown below BEFORE MAY 15th 2018. booking link has arrived! Here it is: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/trademark/midway-utah/zermatt-utah-resort-and-spa/rooms-rates?checkin_date=6/24/2018&checkout_date=6/25/2018&group_code=10K7IU Your room cost for the night should be right at $150 TOTAL. A quick update, as of April 6th 2018, The contract is signed and accepted, within the next week I will be able to post the link with the contact information you will need to confirm and pay for your room for the evening of June 24th. Note, those of you that are planning on sharing a room, only ONE PERSON PER ROOM will need to reserve the room, every reservation will be charged to a credit card, YOU are going to have to work out the payment with YOUR room mate, not the hotel. (they can not split the charge!) Once we have the reservation link, it will expire on MAY 15th 2018, IF YOU HAVE NOT BOOKED YOUR ROOM BY THEN, YOU MAY NOT GET THE VMC RATE!!!!!
17. Welcome to Leg 5 of the 2018 V2V, My name is Graham Vincent, and I am your Leg Captain for today's spectacular ride. Tuesday June 26th, we will be leaving "The White River Inn" (970) 878-5031 in Meeker Colorado around 9:00 am. (There is Ethanol free gas available in Meeker, however, we will also be heading North to Craig Colo, (about a 50 mile trip) where there is also Ethanol free gas available.) We will be taking Colo 13 North from Meeker to Craig to pick up The Victory Highway, we will head East thru Steamboat Springs and then Colo 131 to Toponas, we will take Colo 134 over gore Pass (9,523 ft) and hook back onto The Victory highway toward Kremling, and then on to Granby where Ethanol free gas is available, on thru Tabernash, Winter Park and over Berthoud Pass (11,306 ft). we will then take a short ride WEST on I-70 about 3 miles to Georgetown, where we will pick up Guanella Pass road, this takes us up to 11,670 ft, and a terrific view of Mt Bierstadt (14,065 ft) and the back of Mt Evans (14,265 ft), we will pick up Highway 285 and sneak our way down the hills to arrive at The Comfort Suites (303)-814-999 in Castle Rock, Colorado. As a member of the VMC you will receive a special rate of $132 for your room, (they will take $20 off that price if you pay when you book, it's non cancelable though!). This ride will have you ride over 10,000 ft at least 3 times, if you live at low elevation normally, hydration is very important, you should plan on drinking about 50% more water than you do normally, beginning about 48 hours prior.
18. Welcome everyone to Leg 4 of the 2018 V2V I am Graham Vincent, (also known as Grambo,) I am excited to be your your leg captain for today, we will be leaving from: Zermatt Resort in Midway Utah, which is about 5 miles west of Heber City Utah, KSU as close to 8:45 am as possible, we have about a 350 mile day ahead of us, and most of it is spectacular! The Zermatt Resort has a breakfast restaurant on site, which has very reasonable prices and opens around 6:00 am, so you should have plenty of time to get showered, check tires etc. We will have a fuel stop about 20 miles from the hotel, Ethanol free gasoline is available, and you will definitely want to fill up, we got some ridin' to do!, we will leave the gas stop in Kamas UT and head up Hgwy 150 Mirror Lake Road and follow the route shown on the attached link. https://roadtrippers.com/map?a2=t!20461889&lat=40.803160983969576&lng=-109.81322875694417&utm_campaign=trip&utm_medium=share&utm_source=copy&z=7.971809142825944 After having climbed up and over Bald Mountain Pass (10,700 ft) the road winds its way down to Evanston Wyoming, it's not the end of the world, but you can see it from there! we then have a short Interstate stint to Fort Bridger Wyoming, where we will head back south to Manila Ut, and pick up Ut 44, which winds its way up the rock cliffs and joins up with hgwy 191, south into Vernal Utah, ethanol free fuel will be available and the greatest little old school hamburger place, those that V2V'd last year know what I am talking about!, the french fries are most excellent, and the chocolate malts are going to be one of the best you have ever had, I have eaten there quite a few times and have never been able to finish everything. We will then pick up The Victory Highway and head East to Hgwy 64 thru Rangely and on to Meeker Colorado. Accommodations will be at the White River Inn (970) 878-5031 rooms will be $80 either a single King or Double Queen, Monday evening, June 25th, they have a ticket started for us, just let them know you are with the Victory Motorcycle Group, and they will get you taken care of. Meeker has many restaurants, Mexican food (Ma Famiglia is good), Outfitters Diner is very good for dinner and opens at 6:00 am for breakfast, be hungry, the food at Outfitters Diner is great and so are the portions. they are less than a 2 minute walk from our motel. Meeker does not lack for adult frosty beverage type places, most no more than a 5 minute walk from the motel, there is also a liquor store right on main street for those who would rather enjoy the beautiful green area at the motel, your room is furnished with a small fridge to keep them cold, if you so wish. We will be trundling over mountain passes, and thru open high plains, weather can "happen" at a moments notice, have rain gear accessible, not that we will need it, this is the V2V, and it never rains on us! like wise it could just as easily be 100 degrees!, this is the Rocky Mountains, don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes,,, it'll change!
19. Hello everyone, I have information for the overnight stop in Utah for the 2018 V2V Sunday evening June 24th, the V2V entourage will be checking in to the Zermatt Resort in Midway Utah, which is about half way between Heber City and Park City UT. The Hotel will be in the range of $150 for the night including taxes etc. either a double Queen room or a single King room, IF YOU HAVE RESERVED YOUR PLACE BEFORE APRIL 1st 2018. If you do not LET ME KNOW before APRIL 1st what room you want, and you wish to stay with the group, you will have to take the room at "THE GOING RATE", which they are currently stating is about $100 a night HIGHER THAN OUR V2V RATE!!!, the rooms are NON CANCELABLE, I HAVE TO SIGN THE CONTRACT AND GUARANTEE THE QUANTITY OF ROOMS BY APRIL 1ST 2018. After I have you on the list, I will forward the number of king and double queen rooms to the hotel, they will send me the contract to sign. Then I will have a contact at the hotel for you to call, they will take your reservation, you are all set, locked in to a very nice hotel for about the same rate as a comfort suites! I have checked every hotel/motel in the area, this is the only hotel I can find that is: A) within "walking" distance of a restaurant for breakfast and evening meal, (they are on site) and B) is $150 a night or less. (the average going rate in the area this time of the year is about $200 a room) C) has the ability for you to have an ice cold frosty adult beverage should you want one. The Holiday Inn at Heber City that we have stayed at in the past would be the same cost as Zermatt Resort, but the restaurant that is in their parking lot, is permanently closed! If you have any questions feel free to contact me. regards Graham Vincent, Leg Capt leg 4 and 5 and all around good egg ;-{o)
20. I know,I know, it's 6 months away, but that just gives you more time to put together your "sick" day story for work! so that you can ride a leg of the V2V as it slides thru your neighborhood in 2018. If the ride is coming thru your area, oh, lets say on a Thursday or Monday, that would give you a couple of days to ride with the kewelest Victory riders from your area as well as probably some from out of your area, so put some thought into it now, and then be sure to get signed up for the legs you are going to ride once the legs are posted. I am constantly surprised how riding in the V2V can cure: food poising, car breakdowns, migraine headaches, and occupational rectal glaucoma, (just don't see my ass going to work today!), so start thinking of what "excuse" you are going to use, you have lot's of time to think up the disease du jour, and start laying the ground work to get that day or 2 off work so you can be part of the greatest motorcycling event in history! don't use the lame "I got some bad sea food for dinner last night" or as we say around here, "we ate at her sisters", bosses catch onto that one pretty quick, they start asking tricky questions, like, didn't you eat there the night before the opening day for deer/elk/dove/black powder/archery/baseball season? be smart, be creative, and if all else fails, I can send you some of my sister in laws Shrimp and Krab lasagne! but for Pete's sake don't eat it!
21. Nope, other than an announcement would be made,,,,,,soon!??
