Welcome to Leg 5 of the 2019, 20^th Annual V2V. I'm honored to be your leg captain for this leg. 

We will depart the hotel in Plainfield, IN around 8:30AM and follow most of the Old National Road/Victory Highway to Collinsville, IL (metro St. Louis, MO).  Most of US 40 on this leg however has to be one of the most boring sections of the Old Road in the Country being a 4 lane divided highway for a large portion of it.  Because of that, we are making a diversion along the way to experience some of central Indiana's roads and couple of places of interest along the way.

We will depart Plainfield and head SW and get into some of this areas most twisted roads and find our first stop at Cataract Falls (http://www.gowaterfalling.com/waterfalls/cataractindiana.shtml) we can spend as little or as much time there as we would like.  There is a covered bridge so we should be able to get some good group photo's.  There is a $5 park entrance fee.

Departing the falls we will head further SW and get into some more Indiana twisty's (as good as it gets here, lol) and head to lunch in Martinsville, IL at the famous Moonshine Store (https://www.moonshineillinois.com/?fbclid=IwAR1oaBsfrYMdlXl4foZyGHuLKbdN6E72NlpGYHSvIjt7aqJJ5q-dYXeN6FU).

After lunch we'll head North to Casey, IL.  This town was made famous for having the worlds largest things.  There is a good ice cream shop in town while we walk around and burn off lunch, and take photo's, or just relax and enjoy the early afternoon.

From Casey we will rejoin the National Road and head into Effingham, IL to fuel up (about 175 miles from the hotel).  From Effingham it's about 2 hours on the National Road to Collinsville.  I plan on being at the hotel before 6pm CST.

There are plenty of restaurants to walk to from the hotel and join in fellowship with Leg 6 riders to finish the day.
