Hello VMC MEMBERS!

The Events Committee is looking for support to hold the 2020 V2V!  We are asking for individuals to host legs f the Annual V2V. The Events Committee is waiting till the end of the Election process to start looking for people to get involved with the V2V Ride across the USA.  The Events Committee will be contacting all Regional Reps for support of the historic Event!  If you haven’t read about the V2V and why it was started please find that information and read about the history!  It is my opinion that even though this Ride was started to honor the WW1  soldiers I believe it should also be ridden to honor all the woman and men that served our country!  THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE BETWEEN JUNE21 to July 4th.  This event depends on VMC MEMBERS  participation!

If you are interested in supporting the V2V please post here to find out what you can do to support the V2V!

Thank you for your replies.  I will be reviewing past V2V and Gene Hunt is going to help me get a handle on the process.

Thank Again

Chuck

Chuck,

I've gathered quite a bit of detail on past V2Vs.  I could email that over to you if it might help.  Let me know.

This is Wayne Oosterhoff, Jr and have led the Cbus to St. Louis rides the past three years and would be more than willing to run these and maybe another one to the East this year.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on the 2020 V2V.

Thanks for organizing Chuck!!

PS..  I have one request, it's never to early to start promoting the V2V on all the FB pages

GREETINGS ALL!

AT THE BOARD MEETING ON WEDNESDAY THE V2V WAS DISCUSSED AT GREAT LENGTH.  SINCE WE HAVE NO OFFICIAL CHAIR FOR THIS YEAR'S EVENT, VIVIAN HARDIN OFFERED TO TRY TO COORDINATE THE LEGS - AND SHE CAN WORK ON THE START (WEST COAST) THROUGH TO THE MID-WEST.  SHE NEEDS HELP!  IN PARTICULAR FROM THE MID-WEST TO THE NORTHEAST!  IF YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE ON SOME OF THAT WORK AND CAN EITHER LEAD A LEG OR TWO, OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO WILL, PLEASE REACH OUT TO VIVIAN AND LET HER KNOW!  THIS EVENT NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT TOGETHER AND AT LEAST PARTIALLY READY TO GO BY APRIL 30 SO DON'T DELAY!  KEEP THE V2V MOVING IN 2020!

YES Jim!  that is an excellent idea!  With apologies to Viv as I have done a bit of editing to her original email, here is the text I think should go out to the membership asap.

VMC Nation,

It is way past due to start serious conversation about V2V 2020. With Gene retiring from the position of V2V chair, the time for leisurely planning for this event has escaped.  The BoD  has discussed cancelling this year's event, but I would like to see if we can pull it together - it IS a landmark event for the VMC!    I have listed the Legs for this year's rally in the hope that someone among our membership is willing to step up as Leg Captain for one or more legs.  Due to our late start, we need to tie this down asap.  I have hopes that we will be able to do this, keeping in mind that Covid 19 may impact our plans.

I would like to start the planning with securing Leg Captains for all 13 legs.

Of course, the start and end destinations of each leg would be up to the Leg Captains. The suggestions below are major cities close to the original Route 40. Also, more recognizable to folks not familiar to the specific area. If the destination is Castle Rock or Fort Morgan instead of Denver, again, up to the Leg Captain.

I realize there is so much more planning to be done to pull off this magnificent event. If we can start with securing Leg Captains, the rest of the planning can be completed as time permits.

Anxious to hear thoughts and responses.

We are underway with the planning for the 2020 V2V. We have some amazing volunteers that have stepped up to be your Leg Captains.  Here are the 13 legs, dates and leg captains.  The destinations are planned as close as possible to the original Victory Highway.
V2V 2020
Leg                   Date        Start Point End Point Leg Captain
1 6/22/2020       San Francisco Reno Donna Dovel
2 6/23/2020       Reno Ely, NV Rose Mandile
3 6/24/2020         Ely, NV Salt Lake, UT Rose Mandile
4 6/25/2020       Salt Lake, UT Craig, CO Rose Mandile
5 6/26/2020       Craig, CO Fort Morgan, CO John Dextras
6 6/27/2020       Fort Morgan, CO Wilson, KS Paul Simpson
7 6/28/2020       Wilson, KS Kansas City, MO Lowell Johnson
8 6/29/2020       Kansas City, MO St. Louis, MO Dave Crew
9 6/30/2020       St. Louis, MO Indianapolis, IN Wayne O Jr.
10 7/1/2020         Indianapolis, IN Columbus, OH Wayne O Jr.
11  7/2/2020           Columbus, OH Uniontown, PA David Lovell
12 7/3/2020         Uniontown, PA Frederick, MD David Lovell
13 7/4/2020         Frederick, MD Staten Island, NY David Lovell

Leg Captains, hotels, and a few other small changes maybe needed as we all move through this novel Covid-19.  The VMC Board is supporting this annual event.  We are all in this together.   Hoping you will be able to participate in one or more of the legs. This is a great event, you won't want to miss it.  Stay tuned!
