It's also posted on about every Vic FB page I could find.

The moderators of the page, needs to pin it or reposted regularly so it gets to the top of the feed. And I do not see it listed in the event section. Big mistake.

I'm going to be the captain from Wilson West.  Coordinating with the Palmer Divide guys on where we will meet.  As always we've got plenty of beds at the place at the lake!

Thanks Paul, If I ride that far this year, hopefully I won't have to bunk with that same guy as last year. He's a Cheeky Monkey.

Is it necessary to have all leg captains assigned before you post the event?  How does anyone know what leg still needs a captain if the info isn’t out there?  Also - for those of us that have volunteered for a leg would like to see the confirmation posted so we know who to coordinate with at each end of our leg.  Personally I don’t want to wait till the last minute and we’re getting close here. This also counts for those that would like to attend.  We’d like to get hotel reservations in before places book up. Specifically Carson City and San Francisco as those are closer to the holiday and have been proven to book hotels up early.  I don’t understand the hold up here.

Hey Kevin - this year is the 22nd V2V.  How many have you actually participated in?  Inquiring minds are curious.  And what, if anything, have you done to promote it. Other than throw out complaints and suggestions as to what other people should do?

Good Afternoon Boys N Girls,

Don't want to step on any ones toes, but LOTS is happening behind the scenes to get this ride up and running, Hotel prices are way up from last year, (at least on the "West" legs, like by about 30% MINIMUM!), this of course creates a few issues for the leg captains, (of which I am one), to try to find hotels at an "affordable" cost, that are close to a restaurant for the evening meal and baton transfer ceremony, (meals have also seen about a 20% increase in cost), gas prices of course are about 50% more money than they were a year ago, why am I telling you this?, because a lot goes on behind the scenes to get the most bang for your buck on many fronts, ALSO, hotels are not real interested in blocking out "discounted" rooms for us, when they can sell every room they have at the crazy high prices they want!!!

It's going to be another great event, you have seen the dates that the V2V comes closest to you, I highly recommend you make a commitment of both funds and time to attend a couple of legs, you can cut the cost of your hotel room in half by sharing a room with your buddy,,, watch out though,,,, there are known "spooner's" amongst us ?

The Victory Highway was a great ride, the many times I rode the V2V.

I hope we don't get away from the original intent of this event......but since I'm all but done volunteering y'all do what you do and I'll stay in my lane, literally and figuratively

Ride safe boys and girls

The V2V IS a great ride, the Victory Highway is still a mostly great road to ride, most of the "Eagles" don't exist, the ones that do are not actually on highway 40!. but we know where they are and typically we stop at them.

I think that as time goes by, the "intent" of the ride has strengthened, not weakened, because the purpose of the ride is brought to the forefront every evening as the baton is passed to the next leg captain.

Last year our VMC brothers and sisters ran a leg of the "V2V" across Europe!!!, if that doesn't show what the "original intent", of the V2V is all about, I am not sure anything will. The original intent of the "Victory Highway" was to honor and always remember those who gave their lives in the first world war.

Get ready to get signed up to ride the V2V, the leg nearest you, or a couple of legs, or the whole thing, this ride is more than just an "event", it's about meeting your "family", past and present,,, God only knows how many of our family are no longer here, but they all ride from coast to coast with us every year.

Yep, when you've driven the same road for 10 or 12 years, it's time very the trail a little. As Graham states, it's the fellowship at the stops that's the good part. As Johnny and Roger sing "We are one big ass family, under one big ass family tree"

Not sure if I asked yet but how far north or south from the "original" route are we allowed? Obviously we need to keep it within state lines of our intended route but would like to include part of the Illinois river road and a FREE ferry ride on the first part of the route. If this can be approved by the powers that be I would like this to be the general route from STL to KC. Obviously more details will be added into the final plan but here is the general map. And if its a time thing also and that is too long a route once stops are included I understand too. Usually during the summer they have 2 ferrys running but on a Monday morning even if they only have 1 it usually only takes about 20 minutes of waiting and getting across.

Riding up the river road to Grafton is a pretty unique road. It's the go to ride for food, drinks and or just getting out of the big city. Plus going through Alton and Grafton on the way and being literally right on the river for most of the ride up to the ferry makes for some awesome action shots on the way up.
