2023 23rd Annual V2V Leg 4, Richfield, UT to Durango, CO, Sunday, June 25

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm John Dextras and I'll be leading this leg of the V2V and the next.

I'm in the process of getting lodging set up for us in Durango.  Please give me a bit of time to get this done.

If anyone has any suggestions for lodging and a place for dinner in Durango, please pass them along.  In the meantime I'll see what I can find.

As for the route we'll be taking on this leg, here's a link: https://goo.gl/maps/yUCeEqdRHUPovEiaA

Also, so I can get an initial indication of how many riders we will have, please chime in and let me know if you're interested.

Thanks.

Cleta and I are planning to ride with you "most" of the way.  Cleta can't do the altitudes on the Million Dollar Hwy due to COPD so we'll head south on Hwy 191 and meet ya'll in Durango...😎

Rick,

We won't be on the Million Dollar Hwy going "into" Durango from Richfield.  It will be the next day, Leg 5 (26 Jun), that we will be going north on the Million Dollar Hwy to Montrose then to Canon City.  If you and Cleta are planning to ride Leg 5 to Canon City, you can always take 160 east out of Durango and get on 285 to Poncha Springs then to Canon City.  However, you'll still need to go over Wolf Creek Pass (10,800 ft.) along the way.

Durango Hotel Info:

Sorry for taking so long to get this to everyone.

Hotel: Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, 2002 Main Ave, Durango, CO 81301

Rate: Hotel wasn't very accommodating when it came to rates; I couldn't get a group discount.  But I've seen rates as low as $143 + tax (for Choice Privilege members) and $153 + tax (Non-Choice Privilege members).  Best prices seemed to be online at the Choice Hotels web site (https://www.choicehotels.com/colorado/durango/econo-lodge-hotels/co080/rates?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIu9DH1frv_gIVkgYdAh3DSAzZEAoYASAAEgJjLfD_BwE&adults=2&checkInDate=2023-06-25&checkOutDate=2023-06-26&ratePlanCode=SAPR1M).  Or you can call and see if you can get a better rate.

Phone: (970) 247-4242 (Press option 2 to get to the Front Desk.  DO NOT press option 1.  This will send you to a central reservation line that will quote you the going rate.)

As for dinner, I've chosen Carver Brewing Co. in downtown Durango (1022 Main Ave, Durango, CO 81301).

John
