2024 V2O, Victory To Oregon

Recommended Posts

After many discussions and a few private conversations, Nadine and myself have decided  to make public this event. We started planning this as an event with members of the VRCG who expressed interest in coming to the U.S .and riding Victory motorcycles in Oregon. Nadine and I have shared many experiences with many of our friends in Europe and wanted to share where we come from with them. To our surprise there was a great deal of interest and now we are here. We reached out to a few people in the States that we thought might be interested and now as it turns out, the VMC has asked if we would be interested in making this an International VMC Event. We are.  We will be arriving in Oregon on the 15th of June 2024 and departing the 29th of June 2024.  We've been busy and have put this together fairly well I think. We plan on seeing several national sites, Crater Lake and The Lava Beds in Southern Oregon / Northern California. History remembers the Lava Beds War between the US Army and the Modoc Indians so a bit of local American History included. There will also be  local rides to include Covered Bridges, (there are 50 still standing and in use in Oregon), 4-5 of which are in our area. The second week is off to the Oregon Coast with a ride to the Coast and down the coast from Bandon Oregon to Brookings. During our stay, a trip to the Avenue of the Giants where some of the largest redwoods in the Nation are located and a drive through the tree. Hopefully there will be some interest from local Victory riders and possibly some VMC and LC members in Oregon. We have an Itinerary for this time period for those who would like to see it, and plus point, our VMC Vice President will be in attendance also. Lodging can be arranged, but if there is interest we would like to know as soon as possible. It seems our neck of the woods has become a tourist destination, so it is possible we might be able to procure more lodging in the area we are going to be in on the Rogue River. I believe the number of participants at this point is around 20 with 11 of us coming from Germany. The members from LC 70 that are coming are very excited to meet  American Victory Riders and for a few in attendance this will be their first time in the U.S. certainly a first time in Oregon. I think the total mileage with what we have planned will cover 1500-2000 miles.

Please let us know what type of accommodation would suit your needs best. There are individual cabins or a smaller lodge. Obviously sharing would reduce individual costs, plus everyone would be in the same facility area, walking distance. Most important for this is numbers of attendees and any input you have. Right now we are tracking 16.

Another add here,

https://hellgate.com/excursions/#sec-dinner

Sunday 16 June, a dinner tour down the Rogue River. It is about $100 per person, dinner and drinks included in the package and if there are any special meal requests, they are accomodated with advance notice. I see they are already scheduling for 2024, so the prices should be accurate.  Another side note, portions of Rooster Cogburn and River Wild were filmed in this section of the Rogue River.

I want to say this, Nadine and I appreciate every experience LC 70 and all the European LC's have let us be a part of. We were looking for Victory riders to ride with. We didn't realize we at the time it would be a family. This is the least we can do to share our lives with you. We are so looking forward to this and so afraid of making mistakes. The one thing we know for sure is that this will be an experience of a lifetime for all of us. We don't have castles and thousands of years of history, but what we do have is appreciation of our friends and the fact you have shared your lives with us and accepted us into your lives. We hope that this will at least reflect our appreciation of all of our European Friends on a personal level. We treasure our relationships with all of you. Who would have thought Victory Motorcycles would be the glue that binds. This is very personal for Nadine and I. Thank you to all of you, Europe and America. Lets Ride!

Not sure if detailed information on hotel accommodations are currently available.  Summer in Oregon is filled with travelers.  Been there, done that.  I believe this is what is most important to ensure all participants are at or near the host accommodation.  It would be a big help to US based riders in securing hotel accommodations for specific locations on specific dates if there will be multiple accommodation sites.  At this point the only specific info I read is date of arrival and departure dates.  Or am I missing something?

We are doing Day Rides and originating from the same location daily and will do the same when we are on the coast. I’ll update the Events calendar. So we made reservations at Galice Resort through VRBO. They have Cabins and Guest houses but i would suggest looking sooner than later for availability.  We reserved the Lodge based on the Group from Germany.  It would be nice to have everyone located in the same area if possible. Merlin Oregon and Grants Pass Oregon are close to Galice, but its worth a look to see what is available. We are looking at reserving rooms on the Coast at the Lucky 7 Casino, but are unable to do so until January 2024 based on their policy. It is in our opinion, most convenient for what we are doing and cost effective.

We are full time RVer’s, home base is Tennessee, we winter in Texas and summer in Oregon. I grew up in Klamath Falls OR which is the gateway to the Lava Beds and Crater Lake. Have family in Klamath Falls, Medford, Grants Pass and Eugene.  We trailer our Vision behind the RV, needless to say, we’ve been everywhere Man!  😁

We have a pretty good collection of bunk a bikers over here in the US too. Not sure of that area specifically. It is more of a night by night basis in people's homes or property. May work for a backup situation but you never know there may be someone with a big enough property to accommodate most or all.

Purpose Statement

Bunk-a-Biker is a worldwide community of motorcycle riders who voluntarily provide accommodations to traveling bikers. It’s a self-moderated network to be utilized along the road for meeting new friends, making road family, and getting support for maintenance needs. While it is a privilege to use, it’s not rightfully designed to be used purely for the sake of saving money but instead to promote the togetherness and support of a motorcycle-enthusiast community.

I lived in K’Falls for 8 years while I was in the Air Force there. Eastern Oregon, grew up on the west side, Scappoose, and have ended up in Grants Pass. Yeah Oregon has a lot to offer away from the population centers. I lived in Clarksville a corpulent of years and attended some school in Knoxville. Tennessee is beautiful also.

It appears there are a few  Bunk-A-Biker locations close to us. Central point is about 45 Miles from the Galice Resort There are some other option closer, Grants Pass and a place out by Galice it looks like. There are also some Air BnB’s in the area

There are a few options. I am going to post some links for State Campgrounds close to Galice and some not so close. Because of how this initially started, I wasn't thinking in this mindset. Here are some links,

https://www.josephinecounty.gov/departments/parks/indian_mary.php

https://stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=76

https://www.hipcamp.com/en-US/land/oregon-rogue-rocks-rv-and-c-j29h9vr7?adults=1&children=0

As I said we weren't looking this direction but these are some options. For the most part Oregon State Parks and Campgrounds are pretty nice.

And for those who Nadine and I reached out to about the Lodge. We need confirmation for those of you who would like to stay in the Lodge. Interest in the Hellgate tour we will need the payment for that so we can get it organized. We will need deposits.

David and I are kicking this around. Honestly, I want to trailer or U-Haul one way, ride Oregon then play on the way home. 3 days to ride one way makes me very weary.

For what it's worth, a uhaul trailer has to be brought back to where it was rented from.

Not, You can rent one way.

Not for the small motorcycle ones. Was going to rent one and then take to uhaul in Harrison so it wouldn't just sit on the car for an extra day and they said the one I pick up from here has to come back to the same location. I didn't question it so I went with it!

Don’t get the small motorcycle ones. You want the 5x9 trailer with ramp.  That one you can rent locally (return to same location) or one way.

most of the 5x9 ramp ones will also have the built in wheel chock in the front.  Make sure you get one that has it.
