Fire n Ice
Chuck is on his way to or at Sturgis but when I talked to him last week there was no proposal for next year yet. Maybe he was just keeping mum but with the lack of an announcement, looks like not. Put one together!!
sonicbluerider
They should b set 3years out so more people other than locals can plan ahead

MCImoneyman
I floated the idea a few years back to assign the meet to the regions on a rotating basis moving them around, but it never got any traction.
sidecar
From what I was told the are 2 Proposals pending for the 2014 MEET. Chuck was at the AVR and most likly not home yet. We should hear something shortly I would think.
cskiwild
There are 2 groups working on proposals for the 2014 National Meet. Hope to make an announcement soon.
Drnoleak
Can somebody who has been to both the VMC National and the AVR, explain the downside to combining the 2 events? Lets start with how would the AVR take away from the VMC national event?
cskiwild
Did Sturgis and AVR this year!!! Great riding around Sturgis/Rapid city. Getting there nothing but Straight Super Slab from Massachusetts. Loved the AVR met some great people and had cold one with lots of VMC people. The AVR is a social event not a riding event!
mikeroark
Why isn't there a National Meet Committee which does the event every year? It seems each year we are having less and less interest from the Chapters or regions to take on the task. Obvious by the lack of proposal for next year. This is a National meet subsidized by the National Club. A standing committee could be the organizing effort and solicit help from local members in the chosen area for what needs to be done in person. We aren't a 300 member organization anymore. mikeroark
I was asked to also post this Facebook posting here: AVR and VMC National Meet are two different events. Yes they are. Could the VMC National meet be held at the same time in the same place as the AVR, sure. Would it benefit both events, absolutely. One large event brings more of the vendors everyone longs for. I have yet to understand how one event takes away from the other one. Joined may greatly increase the membership of the VMC. Joined there are funds available from other sources to put on a larger event. If we need a banquet for the VMC members only, then have it on Thursday evening (or??). Joined this could easily be a 1000 bike attended event. I have heard repeatedly how the factory wants to work with the VMC and "doors have been opened". Let's work to build a Super Victory VMC event. Which could be handled by the standing National Meet Committee
Blister
So Mike two people have posted that there is NO riding near The AVR...Craig stated" STRAIGHT ROADS, CORN AND HOGS!" and Chuck stated "The AVR is a social event not a riding event" both having been there I would have to believe them! Is that what you want a 1000 people to ride too? So far I've been to Prescott and Lewiston both chapters had provided us with great rides! Personally I like that they are two separate events! patatertot
The FB page associated with the National Meet has been "blown up" to say the least. It has been great to hear the ideas of the people and there are apparently two clubs east of the Mississippi that have submitted proposals to host next year. This is still pending. I agree with Blister that there needs to be two separate events. On FB I am known as "Fireball" - if you know the story behind it then you know who I am. I mentioned Pismo Beach (Central Coast CA) as a potential spot - granted it would be another "West Coast" National Meet but the rides are endless and so are the views. Wineries, Highway 1 to Monterey, Santa Barbara, Morro Bay/Cambria, the beach, quad riding, plenty of RV parking if one so desires, and did I mention PERFECT weather?!?!? I would be more than willing to help out, meet with hotel staff there, make things happen but let's be honest.....it takes a group to make this happen. I do not want to submit a proposal without multiple affiliated Chapter's saying, "Yeah....let's make this happen" and then it becomes an utter failure......because after Lewiston.....there is a HIGH standard to hold because they did it right and there were zero glitches from an outside prospective. I also wouldn't want to place the Chapter I ride with (or other nearby Chapters) into a situation that they would not be comfortable with by submitting a proposal. Fire n Ice
The AVR is not only an event for Victory owners but also an event for their employees and in fact the entire town and surrounding area. Arnold's Park and any place in the surrounding area that could hold a vehicle had a vehicle on it when it was concert time. Most of these vehicles were cages and not bikes. They were even parking in the grass in the park on Saturday. It was nuts! The place was packed! Brian commented that Polaris did not seem to be as eager to coordinate with the VMC this year as in past years. Could have been that it was the 15th Anniversary or it could be that with the release of the Indian, there will be some changes coming. Polaris employees are the ones who really put on the show at the AVR. In speaking with one of them, the employees do the work for the AVR on their own time because they love the brand and enjoy the party and people. To think Polaris would also do the same on another weekend for Indian owners seems like it would be taxing financially for Polaris and personally for the employees. This would lead me to think that there might be a combined rally for both brands. The AVIR? We'll just have to wait and see. To even entertain ideas of combining the National with the AVR at this particular time seems to be a little premature at least until we see how things shake out. VicRaider
Interesting reading the comments on the VMC National Meet Facebook page. One thing that was dissapointing to read were a couple comments that the the Eastern VMC chapters are somehow "unhospitable" or that us in the East whine about another National event in the West. That seems a bit uncalled for. From what I can see from the map above, of the 11 National meets, 5 have been in the middle of the country, 3 in the West, and 3 in the East. Seems like a pretty even spread across the country to me. And I've NEVER heard another VMC member here in the East EVER complain about the meets in the midwest to Western part of the country. To the contrary, several people from the East make the trek to those events, and many others, including myself, can't wait to travel out West to attend some of these events WHEN we can find the the time to take off. I look forward to when I'm retired and have the time to travel to parts of the country I haven't seen and meeting our western members at some events out there. Further, rumor has it that not one, but TWO proposals are being worked on by East Coast chapters for the 2014 National Meet. Doesn't sound very "Inhospitable" to me. If there is some "East coast/West coast" conflict I must be oblivious to it. Hell, I thought we were one big happy family! :tu
Flash
If you want a big gathering of Victory's and great riding, you need to attend the Victory gathering at Sturgis. Happens every year and keeps getting bigger. As for the National Meet I agree with those that would like to travel to new places and see something new. How about Colorado, Utah or New Mexico? Thanks. Drnoleak
Mush Mush next year for me. If the National meet works out great. Man I sure hope I can find some twisty good roads to make up for the flat ones that were going to see in Iowa! I have options. From My house thru Vegas and the Red Rock Canyon, Then up through twisty Utah, then twisty Colorado, then twisty Wyoming then the super twisty Dakotas, then finally Iowa. OR California, Arizona, New Mexico which has some of the best MC roads in the country, then twisty Colorado, twisty Wyoming, then the twisty Dakotas. Then finally super slab it thru some corn fields, which OBTW sounds pretty cool to see for a change. Let's see? When I get to Iowa, if I read the post right, I will see 1000 to 2000 Victory motorcycles and 20 to 30 Victory specific vendors, many of the same people and the factory tour of where my 3 Vic's were built. Sounds pretty fricken cool to me!!! In Idaho I saw 200-300 or so motorcycles, and did I see any venders displaying product? Other than Rylan, Nope. Friends we don't have to do it every year, nor would I suggest it. But to not consider it is in my humble opinion short sighted.

tyrant
Kevin, keep in mind, the National Meet is: An Annual VMC Rally sponsored by a region. To do this, one simply needs to put a formal proposal together and submit it for approval. Therefore, all you need to do is put your ideas in writing and submit them via the proper channels. Judging by the two Meets I've attended, it should include setting up lodging, banquet(s), breakfast meals, bike rodeo, t-shirts, pins, registration, local ride planning (group or self led), gathering sponsors and probably a bunch of other things I'm forgetting. I recommend you check with former hosts as they'll be able to share with you some of the things they've done and how they've managed to accomplish all of it. Good luck!
