For the Leg 13 Stop to meet up with Leg 14 - Wednesday Night 7/3/13

Gold Dust West Hotel in Carson City - 2171 E. William St., Carson City, NV 89701; (877) 519-5567

Reservations need to be made by 6/3/13 - at that time, the reserved rooms will go back into the general population and will be 'up for grabs'.

There are currently 18 rooms blocked:

Deluxe King - $65 (7 rooms available)

Deluxe Queen - $65 (7 rooms available)

Jr Queen Suite - $75 (2 rooms available)

Jr King Suite - $75 (2 rooms available)

** Includes complimentary FULL breakfast with each nights stay **

Check in anytime after 3pm - Check out by 11am

For those taking part in this Leg - it begins in Ely, NV and I'll be picking up the baton from Terry Dammer (victorypilot) the night of 7/2 (Tuesday). See Leg 12 for hotel info however, Ron and I will be staying at the Jailhouse again. You can keep your 'history' I'll take my hot water! :)

We will depart Ely, NV at 8am heading west to Carson City as follows:

First stop: Eureka for gas (77.4 miles - 1 hr 23 mins)

Second stop: Austin for gas and lunch (69.8 miles - 1 hr 22 mins)

Third stop: Fallon for gas (111 miles - 1 hr 53 mins)

Final stop: Carson City (63.1 miles - 1 hr 15 mins)

Each leg is short since this IS the desert and not all bikes can go 150 miles to the tank. I'm also guessing the times are based on cars and not motorcycles going through twisties. We can do them MUCH faster however, we will NOT be breaking the sound barrier!

We'll hold a brief meeting prior to departure so please try to be about 15 minutes early.

At the current time - there is no chase vehicle scheduled to follow this leg.

i'm using a cross country trainer, it doesn't take up as much room a the nordic trak but I get the same workout and I can ski a lot of miles while watching the boob tube or some tunes. just getting the mt. bikes out and tuned up and I will be riding 7 - 10 miles a day on that also.

For those that want to join us to remember Syd:

I was able to obtain a portion of Syd's ashes to be shared/spread as follows:

V2V - the morning of the last leg - I will travel part way with Leg 14. 5th Gear has noted an area that he and Syd had always talked about stopping to enjoy (and fish) but never managed to find the time. We will give her that wish and will hold a brief remembrance as we spread some of her ashes along the river area there.

National - I've already spoken to several people who would like to participate in a similar remembrance at National as well since we should have many more people that knew her in attendance for this event. I've already been advised there's some beautiful areas up there and I believe Patti mentioned a particular spot that would be perfect. Not quite sure of the time or date for this yet but will co-ordinate with National to be sure we don't prevent anyone from enjoying the events they have lined up and to hopefully ensure as many as want to participate with us to add a little bit of Syd to the ID countryside are able to.

As for her bike - my last conversation with her cousin is that he was thinking of asking $6500 for it. However, this wasn't taking mileage in to consideration as he used KBB or NADA to come up with a value. I've had feedback that due to the 165,000 miles - this is steep. However, if you are interested I can put you in touch with her cousin. Note that the bike will not be purchased by Victory/Polaris or the VMC. Too much red tape and all that jazz.

If anyone has any additional questions or suggestions regarding her ashes - please feel free to PM me. Thank you.

Please check out the t-shirts for this year on the main 2013 thread for the V2V in the Forums. Is just below the Leg Forums. We'll be having them shipped to hotel in Ely and need a count for sizes. LADIES!!!! There are womens tank tops this year. I'm told the smalls are pretty small (probably for women in the 5'4'' range and under 120 (with no boobs like me).

Please let me know as soon as possible how many shirts you think you'll need for your leg and what sizes - mens or womens, tshirt or tank. Will be having Robbrutus ship next week.

Thank you

It appears SPOT got lost on the road and is being shipped to Carson City. So if you're planning on following our progress you may have to try FB and/or I'll try to post here when we hit Austin for lunch. It will depend on if I can get signal on my iPhone. If I remember right it was sketchy there last year.

Almost time to ride! Ron and I depart Las Vegas on Tuesday morning at 5am. Anyone down this way want to join....you'll have to PM, all or text me to be sure I get your message.

Thanks!!!!
