Bug_Eater
I made a trip to the hotel yesterday. And I scouted our ride from there to STL. Let me just say, that the hotel is older and has LOTS of character. A pool and hot tub. I think we got the lower price because it's just re-opened. I bet next year, they will be priced out of our league. It is a VERY nice place! Looking forward to being there in about 2 weeks.
MCImoneyman
I won't be able to ride the entire leg, but would like to meet up with the group somewhere between Abilene and Topeka. Lunch plans? Planned stops?
Guest Guest
Hey Rick, Would love to have you join up. I'm planning on leaving Wilson about 7:30 and stopping in Ellsworth to meet up with our farmer friends about 8. We will be working our way east and stop in Junction city for lunch at the sirloin stocked for all you can eat steak for lunch! A quick stop in Wamego, then try to be it gage park in topeka by 1:30 or 2:00 then hit I-70 on to KC. I'm going to take 635 up to 29 to 35 into excelsior springs. Hopefully getting the about 5 to beat the rush. You got a place between topeka and KC you want to meet us?
Guest Guest
Ok. Well if you or anyone else decides to meet up sooner, I think we are going to meet up for donuts and coffee with our farmer friends in Kanopolis this year instead of ellsworth. They said they have more victory highway signs there to see too! So first stop at 8ish in Kanopolis, not Ellsworth.

Guest Guest
Ok, we are on for this leg - we had a brave couple step up to bring the baton from Castle Rock to Wilson tomorrow! wow that was a close call.
Guest Guest
Rick - and anyone else - due to the heat, I'm not stopping in wamego. After lunch in Junction City, I'm headed straight to Gage Park - and from there, on to the Elms - I want to spend less time in the heat and get to the Elms before rush hour. Highwayman
Sitting in the A/C at the Elms Hotel tonight. Man it was hot the past two days. It was great to meet Dave & Chris from Colorado. You two are amazing people. You battled 120 degree heat, bike issues and even took on a deer. I hope you made it back home safely. It was also great to see Spike, and Patty and I was honored to ride leg 7 was you both. Thank you. Met the KC & St. Louis folks t the hotel. Had a great dinner, and caught up with a few more friends. Looking forward to next year. Will post a few pic after I get home tomorrow.

MCImoneyman
We recruited a new VMC and GPVR member last night at dinner. Joe sent me an email after he got home, saying these (we) are exactly the type of people they would love to associate and ride with. Good on all of our VMC brothers and sister for making them feel welcome. Everyone done good!
Guest Guest
Thanks Brian for the kind words! I'm going to try to store this away so I can remember it when I'm complaining about the cold this winter. I can't agree with you more about Dave and Chris from Colorado - I'm so impressed with them and when you hear from them, let me know!
