Rescue Riders database comes through

Recommended Posts

I just got a call from Ira (Ilindy) from Georgia that Bill (Stoggy) from FL had lost a wheel bearing out in the middle of nowhere in Sioux City.

I got on the database and looked for Sioux City and found Greg (VKPBones) called him up and he called another member (not sure who he called yet) but within minutes there is a trailer on the way and possibly even the wheel bearing that he needs to get him back on the road.

Many thanks Bones and the member you called, You guys ROCK!!!!

DONT FORGET TO PRINT THIS DATA BASE OUT BEFORE YOU LEAVE!

It sux to hear of this problem occuring on their scheduled ride out to Billings, but what a testament to the RRDB.  :chpr

The RRDB is better than AAA and only costs $15, plus you get to pick and grin with some poor slubs (fine folks) on this site.  :tu

Hey, this just a small part of what this club is about but a very important part. The Rescue Rider Database is kind of like having AAA only better. When LobsterHunter called, I had just changed my oil and just soaped down the bike. I just dropped what I was doing and called Ira who told me where they were. I called another VMC meber ($20Chrome) and we headed up I29 to pickup the bike. Got it back to $20Chrome's shop and had a helluva time getting the disintegrated rear wheel bearing out. Finally got it out and $20Chrome installed two new bearings, which he had on hand. We were also joined later by Burrhead and Airguy.

We enjoyed a couple beers and some pizza while the bike was being worked on and I really enjoyed talking with them. What a great group to represent the VMC. Just super nice! We are meeting them for breakfast in the morning before we see them off for the rest of their Billings trip.

$20Chrome himself just recently needed to use the Rescue Riders Database and I hope anyone who reads this will sign up. Thanks LobsterHunter for giving me a call. I was happy to help and the others were as well.

I'll let Stoggy tell the complete story, but VKP Bones and $20Chrome BUSTED THEIR ASS to get Stoggy back on the road. We just rolled into Spearfish after eating a buffalo sirloin in Deadwood. We are leaving here at sunrise to get to Billings before Burt's wife and my wife arrive via Delta.

See you all in Billings.

Ira,

Great to see you made it to your next stop. We really enjoyed meeting you guys and gal. Wish the circumstances would have been better but just the same it was great to meet you and the others. Hope you have a uneventful trip the rest of the way! C'ya out there on Thursday!

As a participant in this bad wheel bearing party I will say it was a hundred times worth the $15 bucks it takes to join this web site. We went from sitting on an exit in Jefferson SD at 6pm on a Saturday evening with a blown wheel bearing to sipping on a cold beer eating pizza and repairing the bike in less than 2 hours. Greg and Craig and the whole family, you folks ROCK...can't wait to see you again in Billings.

Many many Thanks...

I can't belive that I have not signed up for this...I will do it today. Sounds like a mess turned into just an exciting part of the trip. I would copy Kevins 39 hand claps but y'all get the idea. Good job guys.

I'm finally home after my just under 8,000 mi ride in the last 4 weeks and I want to say a way BIG thanks to Craig and Greg for getting my bike back on the road. I found out first hand that having a rear wheel bearing blow out at 80 mph is one scary feeling. Thanks to Ira, who was riding behind me and noticed I was having trouble controlling my bike, as he took the center of the two lane road we were on to keep the traffic from coming up on me as I got the bike off to the shoulder of the road. My first act after getting off the bike was to show Ira how my hands were trembling (I was sure I was going down there on that highway) We decide to idle it up the exit ramp that is about a hundred yards away and now with my ear plugs out the grinding is a key factor in determining my problem. At the top of the exit ramp we see we see dirt roads going to ????????? As has been said, here we are in bumf*

Hey Stoggy, glad you made it safely back home. We were more than happy to help you out! For the lack of putting it a better way, we couldn't have asked for a cooler bunch to break down in our neck of the woods. We really enjoyed visiting with you, Ira, Burt, and Barbara, both here in Sioux City and in Billings.

Looking forward to the next time our paths cross. Until then, Ride Safe!
