OFFICIAL CHEROKEE, NC 2009, April 17, 18, 19 THREAD!!!!!

A few people had interest in joining up in Cherokee (Whittier) North Carolina with my buddy and me for a spring ride kickoff (we northerners are looking at snow right now, April is still iffy here, so bite me!). Anyway....We are going to ride down and ride the roads around the area for that weekend. Whoever wants to go is welcome to go. This is not truly a Vic meet so to speak, as it is merely whoever wants to go can go and ride with us. My buddy has a Harley, but I am still gonna let him go with....

The main goal for us is to ride the crazy roads that area has to offer. Everyone is free to ride wherever, however, whatever they want while there. The group I will be in (hopefully led once again by Lobsterhunter) will be riding VERY aggressively. If this is not your cup of tea, please do not ride in that group. The intention is too ride twisties and crazy stuff at high rates of speed while still in control. I would guess we could have two main group rides, one for aggressive riding, and one for sight seeing...The "Tail of the Dragon" will definately be on the menu for the aggressive group.

The official get together hotel is:

http://www.carriageinnmotel.com/

It is pretty close to Cherokee, right on 19...Large rooms, pool, and looks very cool for a parking lot party at night...Their published rates for April are $36 for 2 double beds, and $38 for a kingsize. I called and spoke to the owner, she said if we get a group together the price would be better (wow, it is already very low). I will wait a couple weeks on here to see about interest in this ride. If there are several people interested, I will block out a certain amount of rooms...

This is the weekend of April 17, 18, 19 2009 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). I will personally be staying at the hotel Friday and Saturday night and leaving Sunday...

Great sounding event, I am going to try to make this if possible. I think this co-incides with patriots day up here, so I won't miss that work day. I would love to ride the dragon. Only real challenge is the 985 mi ride to Cherokee, but once I get to the west side of the Hudson River, things should start rolling. I'm thinkin I can make in 2 days ride. If anyone from up north is going, I'm lookin for a wingman or a wagon train...  8)

Big problem with visiting the South in spring - I may not want to go back North to the cold ...

Well, I have 3 confirmed coming from my area, and 4 probables...I am going to contact the hotel to block out some rooms for this. Looks like there is enough interest so far.

By next week I will have set things up with the hotel. Please do not call them to reserve a room yet. Let me get a deal together first. 8)

Ok.....I just spoke with the owner. They are closed right now, but she has my information and they will have someone there next week that can take reservations. That is to say, call them anytime the first week of March or later. I have blocked several rooms under the "Victory Motorcycle Club". You will need to individually book your rooms.

Rooms are either 1 kingsize bed, or two doubles.

$39/night per room includes all taxes and fees.

So.....If you are going, please call next week or as soon as you can and lets get some rooms booked. If we get enough rooms booked, I will call again and block out more rooms.

Cannot wait! Leaving in 52 days.

I understand that this is a loosely organized gathering.......but

Will there be any type of ride Friday after arrival at the motel? A dinner? Or just a bunch of drinking?

How about Saturday? A FULL day of riding? Or wait for the hangovers to clear up and only get 3/4 or 1/2 day of riding?

I've got nothing against drinking and socializing....but I don't want to plan on attending an event where it consumes more time than riding.

Thanks for the "schedule of events"

Sounds like I'm going to move this from "thinking about it" over to "seriously considering it"....so put me in the probably/almost confirmed pool. Will take a week or so before I can fully confirm.

What would be the route for the Michiganers? Any possibility there could there be a meeting/hook-up point for those that are coming from other areas? Like something somehwere in Indiana or Ohio? Gas station would be fine or something like.....perhaps a strip club??????

I just booked as well!

He said I am the 4th room booked for the vmc get together (disclaimer: this is not a vmc get together and in no way should be considered an official vmc event in any way). 8)

Who are the other 2 bookies???

I have a new route; We will be taking I-84 direct across MA, CT, crossing the Hudson at Newburg and continuing across NY into PA. Take a left onto I-81 at Scranton then 600 miles south. Take a left onto I-40 and into the Cherokee NC area. This route is 1002 miles, just 20 more than my old route of 985 mi. I am thinking this will be faster and with less traffic and big bypass around NYC. Special thanks to Panda for route planning.

I am still looking for a Wingman / Wing Gal... :ao
