I'm doing the Chama, NM Meet...ends on June 27th. Hmmmm...I'll think bout catching you guys in Littleton on the 29th and ride the V2V back to Nor Cal...have to see if works with my schedule.

I will be the leg captain for the next leg, Leg 10, and those of us in Colorado want to move it back to Castle Rock; cheaper places to stay, and more places to arrange for the dinner / baton exchange.

Best prices seem to be the Days Inn and Suites at 4691 Castleton Way, Castle Rock CO 80109 (that's where we've stayed in the past). Rooms are $99 per night. Can't get a group rate 'cause we don't know how many will be on this leg.

This is where we plan to start Leg 10 the following day. If someone has any better idea, let me know. Right now I can't Captain this leg because I just started a new job and have not earned enough vacation time.

What does a Captain do? I'll be riding two up from K.C. to the first stop in CO. Might be riding halfway on the following leg.

Basically, you carry the travel bag with the baton (and a few other things), plan the route (which is usually I-70 west to just past Limon, CO then Hwy 86 to Castle Rock), make sure the GPS tracker is on so everyone else can see our progress, make sure anyone that is traveling with you fills out and hands in a ride waiver, and be the lead bike for the ride.

 

Other than that, there's not much else. Others may chime in with additional stuff that I've forgotten.

 

You said you'll be riding to the first stop in CO, is that Castle Rock? If so, then that would be perfect.

Recommend having the dinner and baton exchange in Castle Rock at the Rockyard American Grill & Brewing Company at 880 Castleton Rd, Castle Rock, CO 80109. This is just down the street from the Days Inn and Suites. A good time to meet would be 6 pm.

Well I thought I had written a post here to,you Troy but your email works perfectly as we will be taking the Kansas City leg to Russell. And I look forward to meeting up with you there and we can continue on to Castle Rock. Did you find a motel in Russell. I was given some suggestions from the guys at Vito but if you can find one near 70/40 that works. I certainly don't want to overstep here and sound rude but I have to walk that youngin of mine down the aisle and entertain in laws for 3 days then I'm free to lock stuff in. So if you could kindly help out an ex Air Force Victory riding guy and find us a hotel I would be beholding.

 

I will be checking this always on my phone but I have no issues with you making Contact with a motel and if it sounds good to you it will be damn good for me. if you so chose to do that please let me know and I will get it posted in the Kansas City to Wilson (Russell) #8 thread. Please don't feel obligated as I can certainly get it done Sunday. Of course I won't tell you I am also an FFL holder and could bring along some of that precious 22 or 9mm for that smith. :chpr

Charlie here from the Palmer Divide Victory Riders Chapter. With some changes in my work schedule, looks like I can possibly make the Leg#9 from Russell-to-Castle Rock. My plan is to tentatively ride out on Sunday morning from Colorado Springs and arrive in Russell late afternoon or so. I'll review room accommodations and make a VOTE when I firm up the plans. Riding 1 up and will be meeting for dinner Sunday night in Russell (wherever) as well as dinner at Castle Rock, CO on Monday evening. Have to work on Tuesday so I cannot go onto Craig, CO this year. I'll copy the previous and next leg forum pages accordingly so they know. I'll check with local chapter here to see if any stragglers want to join me for 2 days in the flat lands.

Of course most of you know that I am riding either a Victory Highball, Indian Roadmaster or a Indian Scout. Of course my wife's Spider is always an option.

 

McGrath Powersports or the combination of management, Sales and Service decided they would not see me again if I attempted this V2V on the HiBall. The Indians were out of the question as I would never ask nor ruin the integrity of the Victory bike escorting the baton. So McGrath has offered me the use of any of their Victory motorcycles. I went next door to the used sales building and found a really cool Red (is there another color) like new Crossroads. So they sent that beauty to service to make sure it runs like a top. Good Dealership all the way around.

I need some help getting t-shirts further west. If you have room, please see if you can transport and help sell shirts to the next leg. Shirts are 10 dollars and pins are free again this year. All proceeds will be donated to the IAVA charity. Please leave all collected funds in the Victory pack and I will have them sent to me from the last leg.

We do not have a V2V Committee Chairman for the 2016 V2V. We need someone to step up to the plate and take the lead for this event or it will end. The V2V has been part of the VMC from the beginning! This is not an easy event to co-ordinte since it involve getting people to volunteer as leg captions for 14 legs to pass the baton from leg to leg.

 

The Events Committee needs help to continue the tradition of support for our the V2V.

 

If you are the person or persons that can meet this challenge contact me ASAP!
