I've got 7 people coming from Colorado. We'll be arriving a bit late, maybe 6pm that night (some of us are riding 525+ miles that day). Also, I already booked Ross's Pizza and Pasta for the dinner that night. Your idea of meeting at Hoover's sounds great. I wish we could have coordinated this sooner. Hope everyone understands. Thanks. John

Durango Hotel Info: Sorry for taking so long to get this to everyone. Hotel: Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, 2002 Main Ave, Durango, CO 81301 Rate: Hotel wasn't very accommodating when it came to rates; I couldn't get a group discount. But I've seen rates as low as $143 + tax (for Choice Privilege members) and $153 + tax (Non-Choice Privilege members). Best prices seemed to be online at the Choice Hotels web site (https://www.choicehotels.com/colorado/durango/econo-lodge-hotels/co080/rates?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIu9DH1frv_gIVkgYdAh3DSAzZEAoYASAAEgJjLfD_BwE&adults=2&checkInDate=2023-06-25&checkOutDate=2023-06-26&ratePlanCode=SAPR1M). Or you can call and see if you can get a better rate. Phone: (970) 247-4242 (Press option 2 to get to the Front Desk. DO NOT press option 1. This will send you to a central reservation line that will quote you the going rate.) As for dinner, I've chosen Carver Brewing Co. in downtown Durango (1022 Main Ave, Durango, CO 81301). John

Canon City Hotel Info: Sorry for taking so long to get this to everyone. Hotel: Quality Inn & Suites, 3075 US-50, Cañon City, CO 81212 Rate: 108.00 + tax (Total $115.99). Tell them you're part of the Victory Motorcycle Club to get rate. Rates are good til 19 Jun. Phone: (719) 285-0115 (Press option 2 to get to the Front Desk. DO NOT press option 1. This will send you to a central reservation line that may not have our VMC info.) Also, for dinner, I got a recommendation from someone who lives in Canon City to go to the White Water Bar & Grill (45045 Hwy 50 West, Canon City, CO 81212). This establishment is located about 10 miles east of the hotel towards the Royal Gorge area. Here's a link for you all to check out: https://whitewaterbar.com/. John

Rick, We won't be on the Million Dollar Hwy going "into" Durango from Richfield. It will be the next day, Leg 5 (26 Jun), that we will be going north on the Million Dollar Hwy to Montrose then to Canon City. If you and Cleta are planning to ride Leg 5 to Canon City, you can always take 160 east out of Durango and get on 285 to Poncha Springs then to Canon City. However, you'll still need to go over Wolf Creek Pass (10,800 ft.) along the way.

Hi everyone, I'm John Dextras and I'll be your Leg Captain for this leg of the V2V. I'm in the process of getting lodging set up for us in Canon City. Please give me a bit of time to get this done. In the meantime, for this year's ride thru Colorado we're going to show you some fantastic roads and scenery via the Million Dollar Highway. What is the Million Dollar Highway you ask? It’s the stretch of US 550 between Silverton and Ouray, CO. Why is it called the Million Dollar Highway? Depending on who you talk to, it may be because it cost so much to build (~$1M per mile), the amount of gold ore that remained in the roadway's fill, or the figurative price for those amazing San Juan Mountain views. Regardless of the reason, this road is exciting to ride and the views will definitely take you breath away. In the process of riding this road, we’ll go over 3 Colorado mountain passes: Molas Pass (10,910 ft.), Coal Bank Pass (10,640 ft.), and Red Mountain Pass (11,018 ft.). If you want to see what you’ll be getting yourself into, just Google “Million Dollar Highway” and look at the images/pictures. The 2nd half of this ride will take us along US 50. Right now, unfortunately, there’s a 4-mile stretch just west of Blue Mesa Reservoir that has construction. This construction is scheduled to finish around the time of our ride. But fear not, if it’s not complete, I have an alternate route (below) with similar spectacular roads and views. Link to primary route: https://goo.gl/maps/UXchHoRKQtVJhgQ27 Link to alternate route: https://goo.gl/maps/RbyuS3vwvWvmXwpW8 I’ll be posting lodging and dinner location for Canon City soon. In the meantime, please post comments on whether you’ll be joining us for this leg so I can get some initial numbers on possible participants. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I'm John Dextras and I'll be leading this leg of the V2V and the next. I'm in the process of getting lodging set up for us in Durango. Please give me a bit of time to get this done. If anyone has any suggestions for lodging and a place for dinner in Durango, please pass them along. In the meantime I'll see what I can find. As for the route we'll be taking on this leg, here's a link: https://goo.gl/maps/yUCeEqdRHUPovEiaA Also, so I can get an initial indication of how many riders we will have, please chime in and let me know if you're interested. Thanks.

First things first, I’m not the Leg Captain for this leg, but I am the Leg Captain for the next leg. Since we don’t have a Leg Captain for this leg yet, and people are asking for lodging info to make reservations, I’ve taken the initiative to get this started. Date: Sat., 24 June Lodging: Best Western Richfield Inn, 1275 N Main St, Richfield, UT 84701 Phone: 435-893-0100 Rates: $94.99+ tax (make sure you mention The Victory Motorcycle Club and confirm the rate) The Best Western will not block rooms for us, so I suggest you make reservations soon. As for the dinner that night, there isn’t much in Richfield. I’ve looked into Ross’s Pizza and Pasta Buffet (1475 N Main St, Richfield, UT 84701, just up the street from the hotel) and they can accommodate us. There are a few other places closer to the middle of town, and if others have suggestions for a different place, I’m all ears. If not, then let’s plan for this location. Lastly, as I mentioned at the beginning, we still don’t have a Leg Captain for this leg. I’ve already done the hard part. Now we just need someone to step up and plan and lead the route from Ely to Richfield. Who wants to volunteer?

From what I can see, there are quite a few places for lodging: - Super 8 - Holiday Inn Express - Best Western - Ramada - Appletree Inn - Quality Inn The first 3 are at I-70 and N. Main St. (north part of town). Ramada is just south of there on N. Main. And the last 2 are on S. Main. My route from Richfield is going east on Hwy 119 so any of the above should work fine. Do you have any info on any of the above places? Some are around $100/night, while some are as low as $65/night. If you have any experience with any of these, I'd appreciate your recommendations/opinions.

I just noticed we don't have any Leg-specific threads for the 2023 V2V, or did I not go to the right place?
-
Although the responsibility for making hotel reservations for Richfield is the Leg 3 Captain, of which no one has volunteered to lead, I will do it in the meantime, and try to get the info to everyone as soon as possible. I will post the info in the Leg appropriate threads: Leg 3, Leg 4, and Leg 5.
-
The above legs are Legs 4 and 5 (see initial post in this thread).

Here's a link to the route I'm proposing: https://goo.gl/maps/7ZvZTjsHQku3oyoQ6. 1st leg will go from Richfield, UT and end in Durango, CO. 2nd Leg will go from Durango to Canon City via the Million Dollar Highway and US 50. I'll be leading both legs.

Here's more detail about this leg. Many have requested the Colorado leg take the same route as two years ago. I won’t go over all the details of the route except to say we’ll be starting at the Comfort Inn Fort Morgan, going through Ft. Collins, up US 287 to Laramie, WY, then lunch at the Bear Bottom Bar & Grill in Centennial, WY. We'll continue west along the Snowy Range Rd all the way to Baggs, WY, then finishing at the Quality Inn and Suites in Craig, CO. Gas and rest stops will be determined according to what type of bikes attendees are riding. Here’s a link to the route: https://goo.gl/maps/nUQ7NfkexseZ5MGx6 Room rates at the Quality Inn & Suites are $99 for either a King or two Double beds. Please contact Diane at 970-824-4000 for reservations. Dinner will be at JW Snack’s Gulf Coast Bar and Grill.

Hey everyone, here's some info on the route for this leg. Link to route: https://goo.gl/maps/a571X3GFa7qjtohGA This leg will start from the Quality Inn & Suites in Craig, CO and go east on Hwy 40 (Victory Hwy) through Steamboat Spgs. and stop on top of Rabbit Ears Pass (Continental Divide, elev. 9426 ft.) for a quick stop. We’ll then go 3 miles and turn left and continue on Hwy 14 to Walden. There, we’ll stop for gas and another quick rest stop. We continue along Hwy 14 down Poudre Canyon and another rest stop alongside the Cache la Poudre River. After that, we head to Ft. Collins for gas and lunch. Currently, lunch is scheduled to be at the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant in Ft. Collins. After lunch, we continue east through Ft. Collins and out towards the eastern plains. We’ll make a final rest stop in Briggsdale, then end in Ft. Morgan at the Comfort Inn. Hope to see many of you on the ride. ColoradoKP

This will be another long ride (~400 miles) through northwestern Colorado, northeast Utah, up into southwest Wyoming, then back into Utah. Although this is a longer than usual ride, we’ll have enough stops everyone's buns don't get too sore. ? We’ll first head south from Craig along Hwy 13 to Meeker. From there, we’ll head west on Hwy 64 and merge with Hwy 40 to Vernal, UT. From Vernal, we continue north on Hwy 191 through the Ashley National Forest to Red Canyon where we’ll cut onto Hwy 44 and go west around the southern edge of Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area to Manila. From Manila, we take Hwy 43 (CO) / 414 (WY) to I-80 and Evanston, WY. From Evanston, we head south on Hwy 150 through the Uintah-Wasatch-Cache National Forest until it ends in Kamas, UT. From there, it’s just 17 more miles to the hotel. Route: Link to route coming soon. To make room reservations at the Zermatt Resort and Spa, call (435) 657-0180, and don’t forget to mention you are a member of the Victory Motorcycle Club.

This year’s leg will take us north from previous years. The main route will take us west from Ft. Morgan along Hwy 34 through Greely and Ft. Collins, CO. From there we will head north along Hwy 287 to Laramie, WY. In Laramie, we will take Wyoming Hwy 130, Snowy Ridge Rd., through the Medicine Bow-Route National Forest until it ends at Hwy 230. After going south for about 10 miles to Riverside, WY, we’ll take Hwy 70 to Baggs, WY. From there we head south back into Colorado for about 40 miles and end at the Quality Inn & Suites in Craig, CO. Dinner will be at the Quality Inn & Suites. It looks like they have a pretty nice dining/bar area. For reservations, call 970-824-4000 or 970-824-3950. Mention you're a member of the Victory Motorcycle Club for the $89 group rate. Cancellations need to be made NLT 30 May. Route = https://goo.gl/maps/xPjsYBRyNW12
